My name is Revd Fr. Michael Akínwùmi Akínsọdé. I am a Catholic priest of Osogbo diocese, Osun state, Nigeria.

I am a poet (akéwì), a composer and a songwriter. As a catholic priest, “I thank the Lord for his inspiration and I thank the church for the philosophical and theological training given to me to be who I am today. This training coupled with my typical Yoruba background have imbued in me the grace and courage to venture into the musical enterprise.”

The “Ìrànlọ́wọ́ Ọlọ́run EP” (The Divine Help) is my latest album which speaks about “The Divine Help” from God.

As a seasoned priest and a pastor, I have come to observe that many Christians run helter-skelter in search of solutions to their life challenges.

Christians are becoming so impatient. They are looking for a quick fix. In the process of looking for a quick fix, they fall prey to fake pastors, fake Imams, ritualists, etc. “My people perish for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6). Because they lack the knowledge of divine direction many Christians are ready to seek help from any avenue. Hence, they are deceived and cheated.

This album, “Ìrànlọ́wọ́ Ọlọ́run/The Divine Help sets out to warn impatient Christians or believers to beware of the fake pastors and imams who are after their own gains. Some of them are ritualists, deceivers, the wolves in sheep’s clothing.

The album spells out biblical passages and quotations to warn and encourage the believers.

This album is rich in philosophical and theological background. It is full of proverbs, wise sayings and idiomatic expressions. The ‘ewì (poem) is rendered in an outstanding Yoruba pedagogy. It is full of wisdom. It is nourishing.

Apart from the ‘ewì'(poem) there are other uplifting songs/hymns that are doctrinally and theologically sound. The taste of the pudding is in the eating.

Endeavour to have some taste.
